City mascot - a happy deer
The deer has been a symbol of auspiciousness since ancient times. The morality that the deer represents is in line with the moral values of benevolence, loyalty, courtesy, wisdom, integrity, gentleness, kindness, seriousness, frugality and modesty that Confucius emphasized.
The happy deer wears traditional Chinese costume, representing traditional Confucian culture. The costume is in purple, which is a noble color.
The image of the happy deer symbolizes the city spirit that Quzhou is a holy land of the southern branch of Confucius’s descendants and a place of courtesy, as well as the Confucianism and moral values that Quzhou people have inherited for nearly a thousand years. It also shows the happy living conditions of Quzhou people.
