Confucianism on campus

Quzhou, a historical and cultural city at national level, has enjoyed a history of Confucian culture of more than 800 years. Kong Duanyou, a member of the 48th generation of Confucius’ descendants, moved to Quzhou in 1128 with the then emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279).

Based on such a long cultural history, the city is devoted to developing campus culture with Confucius characteristics in its schools. The government donated 3.5-meter-high statues of Confucius to primary and middle schools in the city.

Relevant courses were developed for students of different ages. Activities, such as speech contests, chorus competitions, Confucius ceremonies and lectures, have been organized to stimulate students’ interest in traditional culture.
