Tourism promotion wraps up in Shanghai
The city of Quzhou, Zhejiang province, is showing its hospitality to global visitors by rolling out a special program to attract them.
The special program, with the theme “Home of Southern Confucianism, A Model City of Virtue", was promoted in Shanghai on Aug 25. According to the program, tourists from all over the world will gain free admission at 13 scenic spots in Quzhou, including Longyou Grottoes and Jianglang Mountain starting Aug 4 except on national statutory holidays and weekends.
“Home of Southern Confucianism” is a unique historical context and cultural landmark of Quzhou, the city’s mayor Tang Feifan said, adding that taking it as the city’s symbol is a practical move that aims to inherit and develop the Southern Confucianism culture and strengthen confidence in traditional culture.
He said that “A Model City of Virtue” represents the spirit and value proposition of Quzhou, and Confucianism also has an impact on the guidelines for the city’s ecological protection and sustainable development.
The virtue of Quzhou can be found in its people, who are simple, tolerant, hospitable, friendly, grateful and respectful and for propriety in governance, Tang explained.
The city has taken measures to optimize its business environment and improve grassroots governance, according to the mayor.
At the event, Tang Feifan also demonstrated the promotion program’s logo zuoyi, which represents bowing, a traditional Chinese etiquette practice, a mascot deer, and a cartoon figure, Grandpa Southern Confucianism, for guests from the Yangtze River Delta Urban Economic Coordination Committee, Shanghai Municipal Government, and over 30 Chinese mainstream media outlets.
