Conference promotes Quzhou Tourism
A tourist promotion conference was held on Oct 13 in Wuhan, Hubei province, to attract more tourists to Quzhou, a city in East China's Zhejiang province.
Themed "Home of Southern Confucianism, A Model City of Virtue" and held by the municipal government of Quzhou, the event attracted officials of the municipal government of Wuhan, the provincial government of Hubei and journalists from over 60 Chinese mainstream media outlets.
After welcoming the guests, Tang Feifan, mayor of Quzhou said that Quzhou is a historical city with splendid culture and picturesque landscape, and is full of vitality.
Local mountains, water, people and good development prospects made the branding of the "Home of Southern Confucianism, A Model City of Virtue" promotional event possible, Tang noted.
“‘Home of Southern Confucianism’ is a unique historical context and cultural landmark of Quzhou,’” Tang said, adding that taking it as the city’s slogan is a practical move that aims to inherit and develop the Southern Confucianism culture and strengthen public confidence in traditional culture.
The promotional event fully showed the most authentic cultural element, which deeply integrates the city’s past, present and future, he stressed.
He said that Quzhou hoped to gain more presence and better popularize its tourism resources through the promotion in Wuhan.
Wuhan is well-known as "a thoroughfare of nine provinces". It is a nationally important industrial base, science and education base and comprehensive transport hub. It is also one of the core cities in Central China and the Yangtze River economic belt and one of the seven super metropolises in China.
At the event, the mayor also explained the promotional event’s logo – zuoyi (bowing, which is a traditional Chinese etiquette practice), a mascot deer, and a cartoon figure, Grandpa Southern Confucianism.
In addition, Quzhou signed cooperation agreements with more than 20 universities and colleges in Wuhan and announced the offer of free scenic spot tickets for Wuhan college students.
Other Quzhou officials, including Fu Genyou, Qian Weigang, Zhuge Huiyan and Lyv Yuelong also attended the event.
