Quzhou No 2 High School
Quzhou No 2 High School was founded in 1953. Through 65 years of development, it has earned plenty of honors, including being one of the first 18 key middle schools in Zhejiang province, provincial first class key middle school and one of the provincial first class demonstration high schools. It is also one of the nine middle schools in Zhejiang to have recommendation rights towards Peking University and Tsinghua University.
The school covers an area of 276 mu (19.32 hectares), with 18 classes and about 730 students in each grade. There are currently more than 2,100 students in the school. The school has a strong teachers’ group including three senior teachers, seven provincial special-class teachers and 24 municipal top teachers. The school is striving to build a Confucianism campus, boosting international understanding education and implementing characteristic campus culture such as green and low-carbon life. As the city’s innovative talents cultivation base and one of China’s first batch of specialist primary and middle schools of mental health education, the school is fostering students' all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding by its broad vision, environmental protection concept, innovative spirit and healthy mindset. Students are organized to study in Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and other places around the world to experience exotic culture and enhance international exchanges.
The school’s average score of China’s college entrance examination is in the forefront of the province, with about 20 students entering universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and elite schools of Hong Kong and Singapore every year. Xu Yujing, a 2005 graduate from the school was the top liberal arts student for the college entrance exam of Zhejiang province. With the school’s teaching quality, reputation and influence on domestic middle schools continuously improving in recent years, it has become one of the best middle schools in China.
Since Quzhou innovative talents cultivation base settled in Quzhou No 2 High School in 2011, 97 students have won the first prize in the competitions of five major discipline including mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and information technology and 1,896 students have won prizes above the provincial level, three of which were selected to the national training team, 22 to the Zhejiang provincial team and one to the provincial reserve team. All the 26 students were admitted to Peking University and Tsinghua University. In recent years, the school has participated in all levels of juvenile robot competition, and has won Vex Robot Asia-pacific champion two times, world's fourth prize one time, three national first prizes, three provincial first prizes and eight provincial second prizes, participating in all levels of youth science and technology innovation competitions, and winning an international prize, two national second prizes, a national third prize, two national excellent creativity awards, 11 provincial first prizes and 19 provincial second prizes, obtaining more than 20 national patents, with a number of student papers published in publications above the provincial level.
