Qujiang features a pleasant natural environment, long history, booming healthcare industry, strong industrial foundation, and prosperous economy.
It boasts an abundance of green mountains, clean water, fresh air, a 72.9 percent forest coverage rate, and 15,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter, placing it among the top nine places in China in terms of the environment. The Qianligang Provincial-level Natural Reserve, Wuxijiang National Wetland Park, and Ziwei Mountain Forest Park are just several of many scenic spots in the district.
Qujiang was established in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) and is the birthplace of southern Confucius culture and I-go culture. A large number of cultural relics and historic sites can be found in the district, including Mingguo Temple built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), kiln sites from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and Tianhou Palace from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
The healthcare industry in the district is currently experiencing a major boom. In 2014, Yang Jizhou acupuncture was added to the Representative National Intangible Cultural Heritage list and in 2017, Qujiang hosted the first World Congress of Acupuncture and Healthcare and became the permanent site for the event. In addition to acupuncture, Qujiang is also known for sports, its countryside, its natural environment, and traditional Chinese medicine. It hopes to become a renowned "Home of Healthcare" in China.
In addition to its prosperous agricultural industry, Qujiang has also formed a modern industrial system involving industries such as specialty paper, mechanical equipment manufacturing, cyclic economy, healthcare, water resource utilization, and calcium production.
