Quzhou badminton player earns Best Athlete title again

Huang Yaqiong from Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, was honored with the title of Best Female Athlete of the Year at the 2019 World Badminton Federation (WBF) Annual Awards Ceremony held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on Dec 9, according to local media reports.
This is the second time Huang has taken the title, making her the first badminton player in the history of WBF to win it two years in a row.
Huang and her partner Zheng Siwei, another world-class player from Zhejiang, earned the top spot in mixed doubles worldwide.
The pair has won six heavyweight world championships, including the 2018 WBF World Championships, the Indonesia Masters, the Japan Open, the Denmark Open, and the France Open.
In March this year, Huang and her partner were champions in mixed doubles at the All England Open, setting a new world record with more than 110,000 points.
They were also granted the honorary title of "Most Beautiful Zhejiang People · Youth Leaders" by Zhejiang authorities early this year for their outstanding badminton performance, and in May this year, Huang began acting as the image ambassador of Quzhou.
Huang started playing badminton when she was seven years old and joined the national team 11 years later.
