African runners secure top spots at Quzhou marathon

African runners claimed first place in every race at the Quzhou Marathon held in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 24.
Lotory Woldegiorgis Mamo from Ethiopia and Jebet Zeddy from Kenya won the men's and women's full marathon with respective times of 2 hours 24 minutes 3 seconds and 2 hours 49 minutes 36 seconds.
In the men's and women's half marathons, Asrat Melaku Kasik from Ethiopia and Maureen Jepkoech Kiprono from Kenya won first place with respective times of 1 hour 5 minutes 33 seconds and 1 hour 20 minutes 1 second.
The marathon, sponsored by the Chinese Athletics Association, Sports Bureau of Zhejiang province, and Quzhou municipal government, attracted more than 11,428 runners from 11 countries, including Germany, France, the United States, and Australia. The oldest participant was 81 years old while the youngest was three.
