Quzhou, Beijing artists mark 70th anniversary with pictures

A joint art exhibition by Beijing and Quzhou artists was launched in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 18 to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, according to local media reports.
The exhibition is sponsored by the publicity department of the Quzhou municipal committee of CPC, the Beijing Wuxiantang Arts Council, the Quzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Quzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, TV and Tourism.
Retired nonagenarian Wu Ruyi is a Quzhou native who established the Beijing Wuxiantang Arts Council and who is also chairman of the Sports and Art Promotion Association of China.
Wu has been looking after the cultural development in Quzhou and suggested his hometown should improve its standing as a cultural city by promoting its numerous renowned ancient calligraphers and painters.
In 2018 he donated his collection of precious handwritings and paintings to Quzhou Museum.
Wu carried 40 pieces of artwork by 21 Beijing artists to Quzhou to showcase them along with 32 paintings and calligraphy works by local artists.
The exhibition runs to Oct 7.
