Yuhua Restaurant in Quzhou, in eastern Zhejiang province, quite literally serves as another home for the city's needy.

Since June last year, volunteers from all walks of life have prepared lunch at Yuhua for people over 60 years old, disabled people, the empty-nest elderly, sanitation workers and other people in need.

Each day at least six volunteers come to the restaurant to wash up tableware, wash vegetables, cook meals and clean the restaurant.

Liu Zhangfeng, at 81 years old, is the oldest helper who is always busy preparing meals or serving tables.

"Working for Yuhua has become a part of my life," said Liu. "I feel quite delighted to be useful."

Another volunteer Wei Daqiang, who came there a year ago after seeing a wanted ad, said he just wants to be part of the team.

At lunch time, diners stand in line waiting for a meal, according to Wei.

"Volunteers are so friendly and they are just like family," commented Chen Heying who has a meal each day at Yuhua and who has also donated some money to the restaurant.

Zheng Qingwen, founder of Yuhua Restaurant, said that she just wanted to organize a group of people who shared her sensibilities, in order to lend a hand to help the aged or people in trouble.
