Qujiang District
Qujiang sits at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces and is a key node that links the Yangtze River Delta, Pan-Pearl River Delta and Haixi Economic Zone, which is on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait.
Covering 1,748 square kilometers, Qujiang district administers has two sub-districts, 10 towns, eight townships and a government office. It has a population of over 400,000.
Qujiang is speeding up industrial transformation and upgrading, and has developed an industrial layout featuring new special materials for paper, machinery manufacturing, circular economy, construction industrialization, new energy, health and fashion.
It is a base for the top-grade special paper industry and for mining equipment manufacturing. It is also honored as an advanced area for expansion of effective investment, a clean energy demonstration zone, and an advanced area for economic structural adjustment in Zhejiang province.
A group of leading research institutes, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute and the Yangtze River Delta Research Academy of Circular Economy have institutions in Qujiang.
Key projects undertaken by Walkkind Technology, Tongheng Environmental Protection and Xianna New Energy are progressing well. Xianhe Corp, a leading specialty paper manufacturer in China, has been listed on the A-share Main Board and Zhigao Machinery was namted on the Top 30 list of China's construction machinery manufacturers.
The district enjoys a superior location. It is about one hour to Hangzhou and two hours to Shanghai by high-speed train. The airlines, railways, highways and waterways in the district offer convenient transport for local residents and visitors. There are direct flights to Beijing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Qingdao and Kunming. The Zhejiang-Jiangxi railway, national G320 highway, provincial No 46 highway and the Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou, Huangshan-Quzhou-Nanping, Hangzhou-Xin’anjiang-Jingdezhen expressways run through the district.
Qujiang boasts abundant mountains and rivers. The water quality in the Wuxi River Reservoir has been proved by the Switzerland-headquartered SGS, the world's largest third-party certification and testing company, to exceed the national Class I standard in 29 indexes and the standard of the US Environmental Protection Agency. It was also the best surface water in East China, and its hardness and weak alkalinity are very suitable for milk drinks and production of drinking water.
Qujiang has picturesque mountains, clean water and good air quality. The water quality in the Wuxi River has remained above Class I of the national standard for surface water.
The forest coverage rate is 72.9 percent and the concentration of negative oxygen ions has reached 15,000 cubic centimeters, which make the district one of nine regions with sound ecological environment in the country.
It is also China’s first national leisure area and national ecological demonstration area, a "Natural Oxygen Bar of China", an ecological defense for Zhejiang, and the county with the largest number of centenarians in Quzhou.
