The fifth session of the Seventh Quzhou Municipal People's Congress drew to an end on April 27, local media reported.

Over a four day period, the Congress, Quzhou's legislative body, listened to and approved work reports of the municipal government, the Congress's Standing Committee, the Quzhou Municipal Intermediate People's Court and the Quzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate.

It also reviewed and approved reports on budget implementation and social development in 2019, as well as the budget and development plans for 2020.

Xu Wenguang, Party secretary of Quzhou, addressed the session. He praised the many achievements that have been made and expressed thanks to all delegates and attendees for listening to the work reports and proposals.

Xu said that over the past year, the Quzhou Municipal People's Congress, its standing committee, and all delegates have made remarkable contributions to creating more complete democratic and legal systems and brought about sustainable social and economic development.

Especially in the face of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, delegates at all levels have risen to the challenge, he added.

The year 2020 is the last year of China's plan to build a moderately well-off society as well as the last year of its 13th Five-year Plan, Xu noted, adding that Quzhou will continue implementing the "Two Mountains" theory, revitalizing rural areas, improving the business environment, and taking advantages of digital economic development, Big Garden, and traffic construction in Zhejiang to achieve high quality development.
