Jiangshan leads Zhejiang counties in development achievements

Jiangshan, a county-level city in East China's Zhejiang province, led 25 other counties in the province in an evaluation of development achievements in 2018, according to a recent announcement by the general office of the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

The evaluation system looked at four different aspects of development – overall situation, social development, ecological protection and implementation of major policies.

In addition to this, there are 42 development indicators – Jiangshan ranked first in 15 of them, including pollution prevention, increasing income of low-income farmers, and rural revitalization.

In 2018, the annual per capita disposable income of all low-income farmers in Jiangshan reached 10,981 yuan ($1,549), a year-on-year increase of 16.1 percent, and all 98 of its poverty-stricken villages were lifted out of poverty.

The city also made strides in upgrading its agricultural industry. Last year, the respective output value of its apiculture, tea leaves and edible mushrooms industries totaled 1.49 billion yuan, 185 million yuan, and 383 million yuan.

Jiangshan established another 12 demonstration areas for high grain yield and cultivated another 31,800 mu (2,120 hectares) of high-quality farmland in the same year.
