100-day countdown for 2019 Quzhou Marathon begins

A 100-day countdown ceremony for the 2019 Quzhou Marathon was held at Quzhou Urban Exhibition Center, the starting point for the upcoming event, on Aug 16.

The 2019 edition of the competition will be held on Nov 24, 15 days earlier than the previous two editions, to avoid adverse weather. Every Quzhou Marathon from now on will take place in November, according to the ceremony.

The Quzhou competition includes a full marathon, a half marathon and a mini marathon covering the distances of 42.195 kilometers, 21.0975 km and 6 km respectively, as well as a family-friendly race.

Quzhou Marathon will be expanded from the previous editions' 10,000 runners to 12,000, including 3,000 participants for the full marathon, 4,000 for the half marathon and 5,000 for the mini marathon and family-friendly race.

Medals for the full and half marathon highlighting the ancient city wall in Quzhou and red souvenir T-shirts were also released at the ceremony.

In 2018 Quzhou Marathon was rated a Bronze Medal competition by the Chinese Athletics Association. This year the Quzhou competition is aiming to be Silver Medal competition and, in 2021, it will strive to become one of the best marathons in China.
