The sports center in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, started construction on Aug 14, according to project manager Xiong Zhiyong from the Quzhou branch of Shanghai Baoye Group Corp.

Xiong said that in order to accelerate the progress of project construction, the company plans to send 1,000 workers to the construction site. One third of the main structure of the stadium is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The entire facilities will cover an area of 89,200 square meters and include a stadium, a car park for 522 vehicles, a training ground and an assembly area.

The stadium is designed to accommodate 300,000 spectators in its four levels.

The first floor will include equipment rooms and an area for the spectators. The second and fourth floors are grandstands with a VIP lounge on the second floor. The third floor is exclusively for box seats.

In addition to sports competitions, the sports center will also be used for keep-fit exercises, artistic performances and other grand events in the city.
