Dachen village in Quzhou, eastern Zhejiang province, was listed among the first batch of national key rural tourism villages, according to a national rural tourism conference recently held in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province.

Quzhou village was constructed close to the mountains, with most of its architecture being built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

In recent years, the village has explored its advantages in beautiful natural landscape and rich culture to develop its rural tourism industry and won numerous honorary titles, including Top 10 Beautiful Chinese Villages and Renowned Historical and Cultural Village.

According to the conference, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism will help Dachen in tourism planning, talent training and promotional activities, as well as investment and financing in the near future.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and National Development and Reform Commission released a notice in June stating the six standards for national key rural tourism villages: rich tourism and culture resources, well-protected natural environment and traditional culture, well-developed rural homestays and public toilets, as well as the employment of local villagers.
