Tourists flock to Quzhou in first half year

Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province played host to more than 41 million tourists in the first six months of this year with a year-on-year increase of nearly 12 percent, according to local bureau of culture, radio, television and tourism on July 30.

The tourism revenue of the city surged 19.4 percent year-on-year to 28.1 billion yuan ($4.08 billion) during the same period.

From January to June, the four A-level scenic spots in Quzhou greeted 5.56 million tourists and reaped revenue of 302.05 million yuan for respective year-on-year increases of 11 percent and 26 percent.

The city's travel agencies helped 602,000 visitors in January-June, a year-on-year increase of eight percent while the operation revenue of its starred hotels stood at 232.61 million yuan, also an eight percent increase year-on-year.

Quzhou again rolled out its Free to Tour Quzhou event this year, adding Meishudi scenic spot to the previous 13 free attractions in the city, and also organized promotional conferences in Hangzhou and Xi'an, both of which have helped enhanced Quzhou's reputation in the nation.

During the Chinese New Year Festival, the city launched roughly 30 activities for visitors, including a light show in downtown Shuitingmen and boating on the lake for people to admire the nocturnal scenes.
